For now, as I'm the only staff member on this board, if I approve your character or ability/technique, it's good and will be put into one of the accepted boards. If something is wrong with it, I'll tell you what's wrong and you'll have to fix it. If for some reason the character or technique is beyond repair, you know where it'll go. I don't like doing that though, so I'll probably just throw dictionaries at you until it's fixed. If you suddenly disappear before it's accepted, then it'll go there anyway, unfortunately.
For the abilities, techniques, Zanpakutous, etc., once they are accepted, you must RP out getting them. You don't just get them when they're accepted, your character must acquire them through one way or another. The only exception is when you're first creating your character. If your human has had their abilities for a while, you do not have to RP acquiring them. If they just got them recently, however, you must RP getting them. The same applies for everyone else. If they have had their abilities for a while, you don't have to RP getting them, but if it's very recent, you must RP them out. For abilities you need to acquire, post in this board the ability you want, and for which character. If the ability is accepted, RP out acquiring it. You'll be expected to do so thoroughly, or at least enough to show that your character does indeed understand how to use their ability. Afterward, post in the thread again, linking to where you RPed, and having looked it over, we'll either accept it, or tell you what needs worked on in order to accept it. Afterward, it'll be accepted, and you can add the ability to your profile.
As for those already accepted characters whose owners suddenly leave for no reason: I have a daily activity check at least once a month. I will always begin one at the beginning of every month. Posting in it means that you plan to stay on the site, at least for the next three months, because at the end of those three months, I delete the accounts of people who have not posted for that long. If you inform me before hand about not even being able to post in the Activity Check (don't make a habit of it though), I will make note of why you're not here, and not delete your account. Obviously, people who recently joined within that amount of time, after I posted the activity check, don't have to post until the following month.
Now, as for what happens to your characters when you don't post, if it's obvious you've disappeared and don't plan on coming back, giving us no notification, I take control of your character. Credit for your character will still be given to you, and I will openly say that I did not create your character; you just won't be the one that is using them. Reason for this is because I hate seeing good work go to waste, so I'll put your character to use as an NPC in some form or another, or maybe even as an NPC in an Arc. Anyone that wants to control the character can call for it from me at any time. Only no one can take credit for the character itself, since it isn't originally their character.
If you come back, and your character is still around, you can PM me and I'll give you back your character. What went on between the time you left and the time you got back, however, will count in your character's history; you will not be starting back off from where you left the site previously. You might not like how this is run, but I'm not asking you to like it. This is just how things will be done, because it's not fair to other people if you just up and leave (I've been guilty of it; we've all been guilty of it at some point or another). Now, there are some things you can do. If you're having to leave for a while and will miss an activity check (this will only apply to people leaving for more than a month), then please post saying so AND PM telling me so as well. I have to be informed of this absence so that I don't delete your account.
If you're leaving permanently (I stress this, because you have to know for sure) and don't want your character to be used by anyone else at all, your character has to be killed off (thus why I stress the permanently). You can either inform us of it, and RP your character's death however you want it, or you can PM me, and I can arrange it for you (though you can write the post(s) leading to the death yourself, but if you can't, I can write them for you with your permission). This arrangement could range from a death in an Arc, or something else plot wise, which is entirely possible (and preferred). The only other alternative to not killing them off is if you give someone else permission to control your character. If you don't mind who controls it, I'll control them until someone calls for it.
I do all of this because of different reasons. If you leave and don't give us any notification, your character will become an NPC, and as an NPC, will get an automatic daily point bonus, whether they are used or not. This is the only increase they get to stats, with no increases beyond the base value they are given. If you leave and do notify us of it, your character will just be put on hold, and be given a daily bonus of their base value each week. Please note that this only occurs for people missing more than a month and an entire activity check; if you miss one, two or three weeks (whether notified or not), I can't help you because you didn't miss an activity check. If you miss four weeks, that counts as a month, and your character will be put on hold (provided you tell us you're going to be gone that long).
I know this is a lot of information, and it's kinda strict, but I do this because I want it to be fair to everyone else that's doing these exact same things. We have lives beyond writing, yes, but if one person writes one week, and another person doesn't write for a week, I can't give them both daily bonuses: I can only give the person, who did the writing, the bonuses. I can't give anything to anyone who hasn't written for the week. If you write, you're active in the RP, and that means your character will get stronger over time. Some people might not like that, but if you want a powerful character, you have to work for it. My sympathies to people here that get in a car accident, get a stroke, or something else, and have to go to the hospital. To me, by that point, you have more to worry about than this RP. I have to apply the same rules, unfortunately, to those same people, because I can never predict when things like that will happen, but once I am notified, I will put your character on hold, and you can use your character again when you get back.
Again, this a lot of information. I made this to be fair to everyone as a whole, not because of individual people. If you don't understand this, or are confused about something, please ask. You can ask in the chat, the boards, or even PM me, and I will happily and gladly help you.
