Introduction >>
Hello, and Welcome to The Camps of Polytheism! Or, for everyone out there who doesn't know how to pronounce Polytheism, you can refer to us as just TCoP. TCoP is a Demigod role-play where, unlike the other demigod role-plays where you can only be a son or daughter of the Greek gods and goddesses, we are a site where you can role-play characters that are sons and daughters of the other polytheistic religions! African, Chinese, Egyptian, Finnish-Ugrian, Greek, and even Aztec Mayan and Incan are possible mythologies to have your characters demigods of. Of course, there is a twist. Along with being a demigod, you can also be a creature of myth. Humanoid creatures, of course. Werewolves, Vampires, Dhampyrs, Valkyries, even Elves! Why? Because these demigods hunt members of The Fallen. That's right, The Fallen. The Fallen is an organization around the world of every fallen angel out there.
Information >>
The Camps of Polytheism consists of eight different cabin groupings, each pertaining to a polytheistic religion of their own. The individual groups, or societies, each have cabins according to the deities of their own religion. The societies in camp are: Die kamp van die Afrika-gode, Zhongguó de shén de zhènyíng, The Camp of the Egyptian Deities, Camp Suomi-ugrilaisen jumaluuksien To stratópedo to_n elli_nikó_n theotí_to_n, El campameto de las deidades aztecas, El campamento de las deidades del Inca, and El campamento de las deidades mayas. Along with the camps come other areas like training grounds, forges, infirmaries and a hospital, fields for many different activities, and a dining hall in Center Camp, where meetings are held.
The societies are surrounded by a huge forest that forms a complete ring around them. The forest is large and dense enough to ward off the mortals that may stray toward the camp, but nevertheless, a ring of enchantment was placed throughout the forest to keep them from entering. However, this ring is only effective against humanoid creatures and certain others. Werewolves, per say, can enter easily enter when they take the shape of a wolf, since their appearance isn't man-like.
The whole camp is located somewhere in between London and Oxford, England, one of the few places easily accessed by all the homelands of the many religions.
In the seprate societies, there are three high-ranked demigods: The Alpha, the Beta, and the Shaman. Each rank has their own unique capabilities and responsibilities. The Alpha is the leader of that society. They are the ones that manage the registration of new demigods arriving in their societies, keep everything in order, and lead attacks and raids, and not to mention are usually never around. The Betas are, clearly, the deputy to the Alphas. When and Alpha is absent from their duties, they are the ones to take the job of leader. Also, unlike the alphas, the betas are the ones who rarely leave camp. And last: the Shaman. Shamans are sort of the "forseers" or "oracles" of their society. To be a Shaman one must possess the ability of clairvoyance, for the Shamans are often required to look into the future or past of certain people or their society. Shamans are also healers. They spend most of their time in the infirmaries of the hospital helping the most brutally injured. Many Shamans are also Valkyries, ones who can sometimes decide the fate of those that may die. Only when both the Alpha and the Beta are absent will the Shaman take over.
History >>
The Camps of Polytheism was organized 1890 by a small group of eight demigods. Those eight demigods, who had just happened upon the area that is now the camp, created the camp as an opposing force against the fallen angels, lead by Lucifer. The Fallen, the group of evil angels, went out once a year to destroy five cities of choice, anywhere in the world. The eight demigods disapproved, and were almost killed themselves while trying to stop Lucifer's army. Ever since then, the camp has been growing in strength. The first demigods were Eludajae Marr, daughter of Anubis and founder of the camp; Jason Demarse, son of Hades; Sizael Cicotl, son of Tezcapotlica; Sango Samanya, son of Nzambi; Meili Lan, daughter of Chuang-Mu; Johann Matias, son of Ukko; Narcissa May, daughter of Supai; and Ceren Kayn, son of Masaya. These demigods alone created the camp. But later on, about three years later, a sort of insanity and darkness consumed Eludajae`s mind, causing her to turn against the demigods of the camp. She was banished by her former friends and alliance, and became the first demigod to believe the same as The Fallen: the extinction of the human race. Lucifer welcomed her with open arms, and it is rumored he had bestowed the gift of immortality upon her.
The history of the camp is something that cannot be changed, but although the founder is deranged, two hundred years old, and allied with Lucifer, the camp is still running. The search for The Fallen is still on, and we could use all the help we can get. That's why you've been told the story: because maybe you could end up the demigod or angel that ends this fight. But there are only two outcomes: The Fallen is disbanded and Lucifer loses his grasp over all the other angels, or they succeed in taking over the earth and killing off the humans. Which side will you decide to fight alongside?
