Stats
As you may have noticed, there are mentions of different stats, points, and so on and so forth. I've always liked the idea of a free-form style of RP, where there are no numbers, and everyone can do as they wish. Only problem is that when it is left up to the judgments of the players on who is stronger and so on, that causes problems, because most of everyone wants to be top dog on the playing field (I'm guilty of it too). Some people have introduced a point system to solve the problem, but that is not standardized here nor there. Most people just user free-form writing without numbers, others use a combination of both. This RP is a combination of both free-form style writing and number based. If you aren't good at numbers, don't worry: that's why there are people here that will help you.
This system is based on another concept I read about long ago and I instantly liked it. This is not a concept of rolling numbers or dice to find out whether you hit your enemy or not: that will depend on the judgment of the writers. These stat numbers are simply a measure of how strong your character is in one field or another. Just as we can visualize how strong a character is by seeing them in action, the number of points in a stat is how experienced they are in it. A person with a lot of points in Kido will be better at spells than someone who only has a few, but that same other person could be stronger at Hakuda because most of their points are in there, and etc.
Obvious question: how many points do we get? Since we're all starting out, we all start with one hundred points, which is how much a person needs to be at level one under this system. We can then distribute those points to wherever we want in our profiles. The next problem is that once they're there, they stay there, except when it comes to the levels of an ability, which will vary. Since we start with one hundred points, we then have what's known as a "Training Session", or simply, you post in a board your stats, adding stats to a particular area and showing clearly you have, and then leaving it be for that week. Very simple, and it just shows that you understand you get this many points for the week.
Now about actually getting points. If you post a training thread once a week, you get 20 points, which is called a daily bonus. The deadline to make the thread is Saturday at Midnight, PST. Since most people on here are in America, I choose PST because then people living in that time zone and people to the east of it will have plenty of time to post. It gives everyone a chance to get their threads in. The 20 points is a daily growth experience your character will get for being alive, and for active, but only as long as you post at least once that week. If you don't post for that week and you miss the deadline, you won't get the daily points for that week, and will have to wait until next week. The obvious problem is that it's only 20 points, so how do you get more? A permanent way to increase the base value of the 20 points will be explained later, but universally, you get more by posting. I will conduct what's known as Weekly Bonuses, by reading and evaluating your posts to see how much each post is worth. How many points depends on quality, character progression, events, and its overall length. While you might not get many points for one thing, you might get a lot of points because of how great your quality is. Having a flow of words that is hard to understand, however, can mean you might not get as many points as you could have.
The more you post, the more these start to add up, and you may level up multiple times in one training thread. Every level you raise your character up, you get 20 more points. Remember, however, the daily points only counts if you post the training thread and that it is complete before Saturday at Midnight, PST. Otherwise, you miss the daily points but you still get the Weekly Bonuses from posting. If, however, you keep posting, meeting the deadlines, the daily points start increasing by five points per week. Your first week, 20 points (if not permanently increased), and if you post again for your second week, you get 25 points. Third week becomes 30, and then 35 for the fourth week, and so on. Miss one week, however, and you have to start back at 20 (again assuming it's not increased). Going an entire year without missing a deadline will net you 275 points for that week at the end of the year. In total, just from meeting the daily deadline, you will have acquired 7670 points over the entire year! That's enough to get to Level 34 by itself, not including the Weekly Bonuses!
Limits
As tedious as this sounds, I have to enforce some rules on the site for different issues, such as limiting the number of people for every race, what abilities are not allowed, and so on.
- Knowledge of the Vizard and Arrancar:
Until further notice, no one in Soul Society, the Living World, or Hueco Mundo know of the existence of the Vizard, and no one in Soul Society or the Living World know of the existence of the Arrancar in Hueco Mundo, but the Hollows do know of the Arrancar, as well as the Espada.- Abilities and Techniques:
Anyone can make their own Kido, Zanpakutou, and other techniques, as well as any other abilities they want to command, but as they must be approved by staff, there are some that are not allowed. Abilities dealing with soul manipulation, instant kills, character control, and some forms of Zanpakutou mimicking cannot be approved. Not only are they extremely powerful, putting restrictions on them degrade their effectiveness to such a point that when it sounds reasonable, they become useless in situations. Soul manipulation is impossible anyway, as even the weakest spirit sensitive human can resist Yammy Rialgo's Gonzui technique. Zanpakutou mimicking is not allowed to an extent because to be able to mimic a Zanpakutou is to become the Zanpakutou, as each is unique. While you can't become the Zanpakutou, you can mimic it's abilities, so long as there is a reason.- Character Limit:
Anyone can have as many characters as they want, just don't take more than you can handle. For now, there can be as many Shinigami, Hollow, Human, Quincy, and Bounts as you make them, but after a while, I'd like to have it to where the number on each side evens out a bit so that there aren't an extreme amount more than another. As for the Vizard and Arrancar, no one can be one or the other at this time, but the option of making one will come later in the RP. Note that becoming one will be extremely rare for a number of reasons that is explained in the Vizard and Arrancar information boards and later on in this thread.- Making a Vizard or Arrancar:
To become a Vizard, you must have a Shinigami character at least at level 15. You then RP the process of becoming a Vizard, and eventually conquering your inner Hollow (or delay it if you don't want to do it right after). Once this is done, you resubmit your profile as a Vizard for approval. When you've conquerored your Inner Hollow, just submit your Hollow Mask. For Arrancar, it'd be useless to have a normal Hollow transform into an Arrancar, so the minimum level is 15, the level a Hollow transforms into a Gillian class Menos, while also retaining their individuality. If you choose to become an Arrancar at level 15, your character will not be an Adjuchas until level 30. This specifically will be your only window of opportunity to be an Arrancar however. Once you level up to 16 and become an Adjuchas, you must wait until you are level 30 to transform into an Arrancar. I'm doing this for the sake of simplicity when it comes to them. Having Arrancar around who are Adjuchas class but are not of the equivalent power doesn't make much sense when you put that Arrancar against an Adjuchas of a higher level who did not transform. Because of that, choose wisely what you want to do with your character. Not everyone who has a Hollow will become an Arrancar, so please decide ahead of time what you want to do with them in both cases. Once your Hollow goes through the process of becoming an Arrancar, resubmit your profile as an Arrancar for approval.Character Levels and Progression
Below at the bottom of the thread is the reference for what level each character is at with how many points they have obtained. Please be aware that there isn't a limit to how many levels there are, this is just all of the levels I've put up so far.
I mentioned before that with the 20 points you get weekly, there is a way to increase that permanently for your character, depending on who they are and so forth. I will explain each in detail.Shinigami:If nothing happens and your character stays a Shinigami, you start out with only a weekly 20 points. Shikai is acquired when you reach Level 15, and when you do so, your base daily bonus becomes 25, increased by five point. This increase does not effect your five point increase for getting your training thread in that week: this increase only effects the base value of your daily bonus if you happen to miss a training thread. If you miss a training thread, you start at 25 instead of 20. A ten point increase happens when you achieve Bankai, which only happens at Level 30. Once that happens, your base daily bonus becomes 35 instead of 25.Hollow:Like the Shinigami, a Hollow also gets a 20 point daily bonus starting out, and these increases occur as long as you are a Hollow. You get a five point increase when a Hollow transforms into a Gillian at Level 15. For the sake of simplicity, and because RPing as a Gillian does not leave you much room for RPing, your characters will transform into an Adjuchas at Level 16. NPC Gillians don't transform until Level 30, what I had intended before, but because RPing a Gillian would be boring after a while, it just makes it easier on us. However, you don't get a ten point increase when your Hollow transforms into a Adjuchas until Level 30, giving you a 35 daily bonus. From there, you get a 15 daily bonus increase when your Adjuchas transforms into a Vasto Lorde at Level 45, giving you 50 daily bonus points.Human:Because humans aren't in a very spiritually rich environment and don't normally have training to control their reiryoku, they only have the 20 point daily bonus. Humans who become Fullbringers however get additional increases. Acquiring a Fullbring is 5 DB, the second stage is 10 DB and the third is 15. However, Humans are the only species on the site that has the potential to keep increasing their daily bonus values, as well as their own power. The daily bonus increases for each person, not by the number of shares. If you share with two people, you only get two five point increases, no matter how many times you two share between each other. By sharing their Fullbring powers between them, both characters will acquire the other's power, up to 25%, with any decimals rounded down. Be mindful though, because you can only share your own power, not the power of another Fullbringer you shared power with. Because of this, you will need to keep track yourself of how much power you have and what you acquired. Your points consists of the 100 you acquire starting out making your character, and then the daily and weekly bonuses.Quincy:
Another reason you have to do this is because if the other person's character dies, the power they gave you at the time of the sharing vanishes completely, decreasing your power. The daily point bonus also disappears, resulting in a minus five from your total. Be aware also that upon transferring, that's all the power you get from them at that time until their character gets more points, and the points from the previous times do not stack. You get their points, yes, and it's their power they give you, but what I mean is this: If the other character has 500 total points that is their own and you also have 500, you both get 125 points from the sharing, bringing you both up to 625.
If later on, both of you decide to share again, not including any other shares you have, you share the experience you've gained since the last share. If you're at 1200, minus 625, you have 575 left over. You can share with him 143 points. If the other guy however only has 800, he has only gained 175 points since the last time you've met, which means he can only give you 43 points. While you may now be at 1243, he's now at 943. You got a 3.5 percent increase, while he got a 17.8 percent increase. That's not only a big difference, repeated shares do not work very well when repeated back to back. The inherent danger now lies in the nature of the transfer itself. If the other guy dies, your 1243 points reverts down to 1075. If you die, his 943 reverts to 675. Your power decreases by 13.5 percent, while his decreases by 28.4 percent. Shares have incredible potential, but they are a double edged sword. Spend your time wisely.Quincy are in the same type of environment as humans, but they get a 25 point daily bonus because they are taught on a daily basis to control their reiryoku, unlike a normal human would. The only other increase they get is a five point increase when they wear the Sanrei Glove.Bount:Bounts are made in such a way that they have remnants of Shinigami souls, but are human, so like the Quincy, they also have a 25 point daily bonus starting off. A five point increase occurs when they acquire their Dolls at Level 15, and another five point increase occurs every fifteen levels afterward. When dealing with their potential of gaining power by feeding off of other beings, they are unrivaled. When a soul is absorbed, they take all of their power. Partially feeding off of someone to gain energy does not work. The entire soul must be absorbed. For example, if you have 500 points, and you absorb a soul that has 250, you now have 750 points. For the sake of fairness in the RP and so that this species does not become broken mathematically, the only souls that will give a Bount that much energy are that of other characters. Effectively RPing out scenes where they absorb NPC characters souls will be reviewed on a case by case basis at the time of the weekly bonuses and given points accordingly by the staff.Vizard:Vizard are unique in that, along with the Arrancar, they are among the most powerful spiritual beings in all three realms, and those inbetween. Both Vizard and Arrancar have the highest daily bonuses of any race. The soonest a Shinigami can become a Vizard is after they acquire their Shikai, and already having a 25 daily bonus. When a Shinigami undergoes Hollowification, their Inner Hollow is born, and the Shinigami becomes a Vizard. This can occur at any point in time for a Shinigami at Level 15 or later, but there are no increases in their daily bonus. As a Vizard, they can acquire the ten point increase when they get their Zanpakutou's Bankai at Level 30, giving them a 35 point daily bonus.Arrancar:
All other point increases afterward depends on a number of factors. After becoming a Vizard, you must at some point in time conquer your Inner Hollow, which can only happen with the help of another Vizard. At this point, the Vizard acquires their Hollow Mask, gaining a five point increase. Together with being a Vizard, having Bankai, and a Hollow Mask, their daily bonus is 40 points. At the Level a Shinigami becomes a Vizard, their Inner Hollow is of a normal class Hollow, but their growth passes with time, rather than by eating other Hollows. After fifteen Levels upon becoming a Vizard, the Inner Hollow becomes as strong as a Menos class Gillian, and you get a five point increase, just as a normal Hollow would for becoming a Gillian.
For Adjuchas, this time your Inner Hollow will change appearance after another fifteen levels (this is when Hollows get their point increase, not when they change shape, so be mindful of the difference between when a regular Hollow changes and when your Inner Hollow changes), and then a Vasto Lorde class after another fifteen. When this happens, and you have the other increases, you will have a 70 point daily bonus. The other ten point increase occurs twenty levels after getting your Hollow Mask, where at that point, you acquire your Resurreccion. An Arrancar's Resurreccion is where the Arrancar releases their Hollow powers from inside the blade and transforms themselves into a version of their former selves, but now in humanoid form. A Vizard's Resurreccion causes them to transform into the Hollow form their Inner Hollow takes. This form changes as the Inner Hollow changes from a Gillian onward. An Arrancar, like a Vizard, gets tremendous daily bonuses because of their power and potential growth cycle. At Level 15, when they become a Gillian, a Hollow, who has a 25 daily bonus, has the ability to become an Arrancar. Upon removing their mask, the Arrancar has a daily bonus of 30 points, and after learning how to operate their Resurreccion, they get a ten point increase, making their daily bonus 40 points. An Arrancar grows through their classes like another other Hollow, becoming Adjuchas class at Level 30 and Vasto Lorde at Level 45, gaining now a 65 point daily bonus. Since having removed their mask and gained Shinigami powers, once they learn how to control and release their Resurreccion, they acquire their own spirit inside of their Zanpakutou, just as a Shinigami has one. Twenty Levels after learning their Resurreccion, they gain their Shikai form, along with another five point increase, and twenty levels afterward, gain their Bankai, with a ten point increase. In total, they have an 80 point daily bonus, just like the Vizard.Arcs
Just as the Bleach series is separated into Arcs, this RP will also have Arcs of their own. Arcs are staff run events that occur that many different people can participate in. Each Arc will have a certain plot line to follow, and your characters will make up the bulk of who is in it as it goes along. Arcs are also major events where people acquire a lot of points just from participating in it. Having your character in an Arc also automatically exempts your character from having to post for the daily bonus per week. Arcs can be time consuming, waiting for everyone to post before the plot can move along, so to make sure people don't lose any potential points they could have, as long as that character is in an Arc, you will not have to post for that week for the training thread if you are not able to. Not everyone is expected to be in an Arc, so you don't have to join them if you don't want to. Arcs, however, have the potential to change the universe around us, and much more. Arcs also serve as the major focus for the story of Hitokawa Akuma. Whether you choose to be in it is up to you.
